Riley has been one of comrades for sometime now. Don’t let the late post of his draft card fool you. We gladly welcome Riley Cronin to the team. Keep killing it!

If I had to go, I’d want it to be Death by Awesome

October 21st, 2011

Our Death by Awesome collaboration started with our white tee and then from there it’s surprised us by organically and rapidly growing into the series pictured below. Helping us put into play a full launch was our good friend Lance over at New Era. From there it’s turned into what you see below, and we’re happy & proud with the way this project has turned out.

This Series allowed us a chance to hook up & work with two of our favorite people. First off Joe aka Dj Death by Awesome has been making me a MEAN cup of Joe for some time now, pun intended. Hanging, skating and shooting the shit over coffee has always made for good times, but when I noticed how serious he was about his music and his passion for djing I knew I wanted to work on something together. But what!? Then Smolik comes along and knocks it out the box with a logo design for him. I’m a sucker for good hand script and Smo kills it every time, this time being no exception. The only logical thing to do was approach them about doing it up as a fun collabo tee. It only took them both a second to say “I’m down!”

So after a great response from the white Death by Awesome tees we decided to press them in black. The end result looks great. Who would have know that it would spawn into a few New Era snapback caps and fist fulls of buttons.

We caught up with Joe a few seasons back to shoot our Spring look-book. This is one of the out takes from the day. Can you tell he doesn’t like having his picture taken. Not only is he a great guy, skater & Dj. He an amazing barista as well!

All of these are now available in out Surplus Store now

Nice Little Write Up

October 18th, 2011

New Era Cap Talk is feeling our new New Era Snapbacks. With these classic Raiders colorways we knew we couldn’t go wrong. The end results talk for themselves. Thanks for the hook up, and can’t wait for the new colorway to hit our office next week. New script & logo hats already in the works. Smolik killed it again with the script on these and the next ones.

These are now available in our Surplus Store

5 YEARS RUNNING

September 23rd, 2011

Manifesto has been celebrating their 5th anniversary by having 11 days of events. All leading up to the main event at Yonge & Dundas square here in Toronto on Sept. 25th at noon. We’ll be there again in The Freshest Goods Market Place. Come support/check us out or just come hang and see the new tees and hats. It’s gonna make for a great day. It’s hands down the best Sunday of the year for us every year.

There’s so much going on Besides acts like Rakim, Kid Capri, Blu, Exile, Stalley, Phonte & 9th Wonder plus a ton more acts and artists. As well as a huge bboy/bgirl open dance floor, workshops and a giant graffiti wall. That helps make for an amazing all day event.

New Era will be hosting an art battle between 6 artists and 6 blank ball caps. With the winner getting a nice prize package. We’re happy to say that our comrade and team rider Smolik will be one of the few taking part. If you’ve ever been to any of his art shows or seen some of the tees/hats & decks he’s done for us you know he’s not going to disappoint. Kill it Smo!!

Hopefully see you there! Mention that you saw this post and we’ll give you 15% off all purchases. Only available at the event this Sunday Sept. 25th

One of our Newest comrade

August 26th, 2011

We’re excited to have Chris Foley aka the Sergeant back in town and as one of newest riders. Tracy went to meet up with the two time B.A.T.L. champ to shoot some photos & video for our lookbook. She was also lucky enough to throw some axes and get a bull eyes third try in.

We’re having trouble posting the video, but you can click HERE to view the bullseye

We have Stockholm Syndrome!

July 8th, 2011

We’re excited to bring you our Stockholm Syndrome Series. This project has been almost 2 years in the making and has finally arrived.

I’ve always been fascinated with the term and case study of Stockholm Syndrome and wanted to do a sub-line using it as the main focus. We wanted to keep it as general as possible at first, but then turned our focus to a particular captor just for the launch. Who, you might ask? The place where skateboarding was born, the good ol’ US of A. There’s a ton to draw from and we let the artists have full range with the art and concepts.

The first drop to launch the new line is 1 deck and 5 tees. All goods in this series are super limited with only 40 to 60 pieces of each design being available. Once these designs are gone that’s it! Featuring works by James “Barf” Callahan, Michael Hacker, Doublenaut, and Smolik. We’ll be doing a few more drops throughout the year at random times, but we”ll try to have something new every 3 to 4 months.

Here’s a quick look at the new Stockholm Syndrome line. Available in the Surplus Store shortly.

Spring Launch Party

June 14th, 2011

We’re a little late on this, but once you see the new designs you’ll know why.

A little over a month ago now, we had our launch party for this season. Our good friends at The Baitshop hosted and Jager was kind enough to sponsor the evening. As well Alex from Muscle and Heat was djing.

We set up the pop-up shop in the main entrance to showcase a long winters work. This would be the first time everything was seen. Even for the artists involved. Stoked with the results and feed back we’re gearing up for our Summer launch for mid to late July.

The night started with one of our team riders(Willy) rolling through with Kris Foley. Who killed it from the start! Along with Mark Bonner and a bunch of other cats. This along with the PBR & 6 bottles of jager that were drank made for a great night!

Thanks again to everyone that came out , supported and made it an awesome night!!

BORN UGLY……

May 27th, 2011

We just received a nice little package from our friends at Born Ugly Magazine. You have to checkout the new issue. They were also kind enough to give us a copy of the new Toxic Turdz video. It’s a very Virginia based video with a lot of DYI spots and parts from Gilbert Crockett & Tyler Beall. Art direction for the video is done by James “Barf” Callahan. Well worth picking up.

*UPDATE* We forgot to mention that we have an ad in this issue. Which you can take a look at below. You can check out the full issue online at bornuglymag.com if you haven’t already seen it.
